Abstract
The aim of this study is to evaluate the pyschich organization of men in the process of becoming a father in the perinatal period. This study aimed to obtain information about the changes in the pyschich organization, object representation, object relations and emotions of men whose partners are in the process of pregnancy. For this purpose, 8 volunteer male participants whose partners were in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters of pregnancy were interviewed. The content of these interviews consisted of the semi-structured clinical interview, the Rorschach Test and the application of the Thematic Perception Test. The clinical interview and Projective tests were evaluated in accordance with the psychoanalytic theory and the analysis of the Projective tests was carried out in accordance with the French School. Both clinical interview and Projective tests are intended to find partnerships consistent with the hypothesis. According to the findings of the study, it was observed that the early fantasy of men in the process of becoming a father in the perinatal period were revived. In the content of these fantasies, rivalry designs and negative disc ourses about their fathers were found. Idealization draws attention in their discourses about their mothers. In the Projective tests, it was seen that the participants had difficulties in establishing and maintaining a relationship with the mother and their designs containing conflicts about the mother. However, inhibition and a latent rivalry in their relationships with their partners became evident. Narcissistic discourses are seen in the discourses of the participants about being a father in clinical preconception. This situation was visible with a narcissistic vulnerability in the projective tests and attracted attention with accompanying depressive affect.
