Work in the digital economy era: an Albanian job market perspective

The extended application of information and communication technologies to almost any possible economic activity is bringing profound changes in the labor markets. To many employees all over the world. the words "digital economy" may evoke one simple image: a human-like robot- sitting at their desk, automatically performing a task they are supposed to do! However, digitalization of a work place stands for more than just automatization; it represents a higher level of performance, increased efficiency and effectivity low and middle level. Jobs cut and an increased demand for highly-skilled employees. Albania, following the world trends, has marked considerable progress in its way of economic digitalization, E-government is already a reality in Albania and the government is financing a lot of R&D projects in this area. In additions, big companies (especially branches of international ones) are investing huge amount of money in the implementation of most advanced technologies in their sector. Those technological advances in the macroeconomic and sectorial levels are transforming for completely job market in the country. Highly skilled employees are more and more on demand.
