dc.description.abstractSakarya ilinin en güney ucunda yer alan Taraklı, Osmanlı Dönemi evleri ve tarihi yapılarıyla ünlü bir ilçedir. XVII. yüzyıl ile XIX. yüzyıl arasında bölgenin en büyük ticaret merkezi olan kent, İstanbul-Ankara yol güzergâhı değişince ekonomik bir çöküş yasamıştır. Bu durum Tarakçı'dan dışarı, tek taraflı göçe sebep olmuştur. Taraklı’da öncelikle kentsel mimarisinin özünü teşkil eden ekonomik etkinliğin (ipek börekçiliği) kaybolmasının yanı sıra, büyük aile yapısından çekirdek aile yapısına geçilmesi sonucunda büyük evlere olan talep ortadan kalkmıştır. Her şeyden önce ülke genelindeki modernleşmeye bağlı yeni yasama tercihleri ve kültür normu değismeleri sonucunda, konutlarının önemli bir bölümünün özellikle ipek börekçiliğine ayrılan kat ve birimlerin terk edildiği bir yerleşmeye dönüşmüştür. Çalışmada bahsedilen konu kapsamında, Taraklı’nın genel bir tanımı, seçilen evlerin projeleri, sokak görünüşleri, cephe özelliklerinin incelenmesi ve ilçede sosyokültürel değişimin mimariye etkisi araştırılmıştır. en_US
dc.description.abstractTarakli, the district located in the southern end of Sakarya province, is famous for its wooden houses from the Ottoman era and its historical monuments. The district, which was the greatest trading centre between the XVII. and XIX. centuries, has fallen into an economical collapse as the route of the Istanbul-Ankara road was changed. This gave rise to a significant emigration. The demand for great houses has been dwindled on account of transferring from the large families into the nuclear family and the collapse of the main economical activity (sericulture) which formed the urban architecture. Above all, as a result of changes in living styles and cultural norms, most parts of the houses – particularly the spaces assigned for sericulture – have been abandoned. In this context, not only the general perspectives of Tarakli, but also the projects, characteristics, appearances of the houses and the socio-cultural effect of changes on architecture have been researched.en_US
