Gastric cancer is the fourth most prevalent tumor and second most frequent cause of cancer related mortality in the world. Intestinal metaplasia is a precancerous lesion, which increases the risk of gastric cancer 6-times. Gastric hyperplastic polyp is the most common polypoid lesion in Turkey, detected during endoscopy, usually known as a benign lesion. Although hyperplastic polyps may contain precancerous lesions and may play a role in gastric cancer onset. A 71-year-old female patient was admitted to our outpatient clinic with dyspeptic complaints. Patient underwent upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. Polypectomy was performed from the gastroesophageal junction and a hyperplastic polyp with foci of incomplete type intestinal hiperplasia was detected. The aim of our case report is to underline that gastric hyperplastic polyps may be precancerous lesions.
