dc.description.abstractNatural products are gaining popularity in dentistry due to their limited toxicity, excellent biocompatibility, low bacterial resistance and its cost effectiveness. Grape seed extract is rich in proanthocyanidin which has antioxidant, anti–cariogenic, anti–carcinogenic, anti–cancer and analgesic properties. Hence intracanal medicaments containing Grape seed extract was formulated and its antioxidant activity was evaluated by comparing with quercetin as standard. The antioxidant activity of the developed intracanal medicament was evaluated using DPPH (2, 2-diphenylpicrylhydrazyl) scavenging assay and was compared with the standard quercetin. The results showed, the intracanal medicament containing grape seed extract had significant antioxidant activity (11.62µg/ml) when compared to the standard quercetin (4.099µg/ml). Thus, it is concluded that the intracanal medicament containing grape seed extract have significant antioxidant activity and can be used to manage endodontic infections.en_US
