| dc.description.abstract | The Covid-19 pandemic has caused almost all professional groups to make mandatory changes in their workflows, both globally and nationally. In Turkey, there have been serious changes in the way educational institutions operate in line with the decisions and regulations taken by ministries. In this study, the changing use of activities and materials of English teachers working in private pre-school education institutions during the mandatory transition to distance education, the difficulties they experienced and what they would like to do differently in case such a process is repeated were examined. In the literature review of the study, the development of distance education over the years, how distance education was carried out in Turkey during the Covid-19 pandemic, the situation of pre-school education globally and in Turkey, distance education with the pre-school age group and the difficulties experienced by teachers, students, and parents during the distance education process. has been mentioned. The study was designed as a case study. For the sample group, 15 teachers who taught English to preschool age children via online education in Istanbul in 2020-2021 were selected. The semi-open survey prepared by the researcher with her advisor was distributed to the teachers via GoogleForms, and their answers were explained according to the research questions. 15 participants participated in the study, and according to their answers, they stated that the biggest change in material use compared to traditional education was the increase in the use of visuals including videos, cartoons, and songs, while online educational game sites suitable for children were among the innovations that the participants added to their education processes. Among the biggest difficulties experienced by the participants with this age group were ensuring discipline in the classroom and encouraging shy students to study. Most participants stated that their internet infrastructure, technological devices, and home environments were suitable for distance education. In case such an unexpected process happens again, the participants stated that the students' internet infrastructure and parent-teacher-school cooperation should be improved. | en_US |
